LOON FaMILY 2016

I was was lucky to be able to capture a pair of loons on Porters Lake, Digby County during an outing with their recently hatched chick. Mon an dad were swimming near shore looking for food with junior in tow. It wasn't long before dad caught a fish that was longer than the chick. It was very funny watching junior eagerly attempting to swallow his lunch without success. It was so large with respect to his size that it was pulling the little fellow under. Mom and dad retrieved the fish several times and would hand it off to the chick to try again. After several tries one of the parents ate the fish and then went on to catch several minnows which junior thoroughly enjoyed. The show lasted for more than 30 minutes

StanFest 2016

July 2016

The 2016 Stan Rogers Folk Festival marked the 20th anniversary of this event. Except for a bit of fog and rain on Saturday, the weather was great. Stephen joined us this year and he is now an ardent fan of the event.

There was another great lineup of entertainers again this year. Some of the featured artists included Arlo Guthrie, Natalie McMaster and her family, Dave Gunning, JP Cormier, Matt Anderson (who made a surprise appearance), Stephen Fearing, Beppe Gambetta, Dry Bones, Gordie MacKeeman, Lennie Gallant, Moulettes, East Pointers, Lee Boys, Christine Lavin and Don White along with many, many more. Genevieve was a big fan of Matt Anderson while my favorites were Christine Lavin and Gordie MacKeeman

We tented with Dave and Mary MacDonald and are looking forward to next year’s event.
