GETTING READY FOR THE
FISHING SEASON

March 2016

Been trying a few shad and striped bass patterns. My Clouser Minnow is a bit different than the traditional pattern in that I prefer a lacquer head with eyes.

This session was my first attempt at fly photography with a Macro. I borrowed Jon's 105 Sigma. I used it in an auto-focus, hand held, single flash mode and was very surprised with the results at f 1/32. For light modification I used two pieces of tin foil about a foot square, one above and one below the fly. Unfortunately, I couldn't lay my hands on a slightly darker background for the Clouser, so there is inadequate separation between the subject and background. I am toying with the idea of making a DIY light tent.
